![]() LiteIcon is a free application that works like CandyBar. There are, however, plenty of other options. We’ll be using CandyBar in this tutorial, because we feel it’s the easiest and simplest method. Fortunately, you too can install beautiful icons by simply downloading and installing CandyBar ($29) or LiteIcon (free), two applications that allow you to replace your Mac’s default icons with custom icons. Collectively, these little pieces of artwork put a human face on (let’s be honest here) the inhuman and somewhat foreign machine that is your Mac. There are dozens of icons that come pre-installed on your Mac, and there are literally thousands more available for free on the Internet. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: One of the best things about Macs are the icons. Thanks for replying and clearing up what I was asking, I guess.AirPort Apple Apps Backups Developer Education Email Hardware Internet iPad iPhone Mac Music Network Photos Security TV Weekend Wonk With SIP off you still can’t change the Safari icon or system folders.īelittling? What in the hell are you talking about? I was just having a discussion on changing icons and wasn’t sure if you were aware. I did answer your question on the unless Big Sur changed something. I feel awful having to go through all this commenting to describe what is essentially found out via online sources out of Neowin.Īnd yes. Please correct me again if I am mistaken about that. Or the default applications like the icon for Safari or the like. With SIP on there is not much to be done in terms of changing system icons like the system folders. I am the same as you can read in my comment above. ![]() Trying to be right without any further contest. The belittling of your your previous comment I could have been without as it shows what is so often the case online. I know you don’t know me and only see me commenting once in a blue moon. You can’t do that with any known programs other than the one mentioned. I use IconChamp to change the whole system and its icons. In that comment I went after you for treating me like a dumb person but in much harder language. I wrote a rather snarky comment that I of course didn’t publish. You shouldn’t need icon champ unless Big Sur changed something. IconChamp screenshot is included as a thumbnail - showing the Home folder section The pinned messages for the IconChamp channel contains useful information to allow testing and change the system icons including all the Home folders and System applications. It's in beta and available on the macEnhance Discord server at least. The system icons are made possible to change, even with SIP still active, by using IconChamp. Icons are my own - still in progress - drive is re-made earlier today with better lower pixel recognition for that 16px and 32px icon states. I don't think it's released in this appearance anywhere yet.Īnd I doubt anyone uses much of Bowtie anyway anymore.
